Australia hire new coaching staff
I was excited to hear Australia have begun to revamp their coaching staff. Would it be an ex-bowler revealing the mysteries of reverse swing? Or an old Aussie great teaching our middle-order how to play the swinging ball? Or just a good ol' fashioned fielding coach teaching us how to catch again. Nope. We've hired a "performance analyst". What's that, you say? He's the guy who video tapes the cricket matches, making sure to cut out all the commercial breaks and Channel 9's memorabilia sales pitches. I hear this guy is good at it too, he can even program the VCR to record late at night (useful for the games in the subcontinent). This is almost laughable - one can only hope the reason they haven't got around to hiring real coaching staff is Dennis Lillee still isn't returning their calls.

Not sure what you mean by "I think Australia stand in their end point". One of the major gripes with Australian coaching is we don't have anyone who actually coaches us in cricket skills. We just have John Buchanan who sits at his laptop, spouts Edward de Bono philosophy and extracts from The Art of War. So the current thought is maybe if we had a bowling coach who helped our guys with reverse swing - eg, someone who honed our actual cricket skills - we might be a little more prepared.
