Flintoff's bat narrowly escapes burning at Aussie hands
Sky News report that Andrew Flintoff's bat sold at auction for ?22,000. The price isn't what's so interesting - what's intriguing me is that one of the bidders, Australian Darryn Lyons, threatened to burn the bat on Australian soil. However, he was pipped at the end by millionaire Nick Robinson (who I presume is English). Obviously the scars from the Ashes loss runs deep in Australian cricket fans (I know I still haven't got over it). Now if only Lyons had kept his mouth shut until AFTER he won the bat!

Looks like this is going on lines with the infamous ballgame I was witness to in Chicago in 2003 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grant_DePorter
