Aussies spit the dummy over Phil Tufnell sledge

I'm surprised people are even talking about it but the big talking point of the Allan Border medal was Phil Tufnell's sledge and the Australian cricketers' livid reaction. There were even calls for Channel 9 to apologise for running it. Please! Are our cricketers so precious, we can't upset their delicate genius with some light hearted ribbing. As Robert Craddock put it in The Daily Telegraph, being sledged by Phil Tufnell is like being savaged by a pussycat. Ricky Ponting states it's Australian cricket's "night of nights" and stirring them over the Ashes loss was inappropriate. He just didn't like being told he made a bad call sending England in at Edgbaston (he must be the only person in all cricketdom that thinks he did the right thing). There is a tendency among Australian cricketers to take themselves too seriously. Whether it's Shane Warne obsessed about his weight, Justin Langer setting his rabid lawyer on an internet commentator who called him "brown nosed gnome" or Scott Muller threatening to sue Brett Lee over his song "Can't bowl can't field", there seems to be a tad too much navel gazing going on in the Australian cricket community. Knocking them down a peg can only be a healthy thing.
