Reflections on England's Day 1 bowling

It's early days yet and we mustn't forget we caned England in the first Test last year only to lose the series. Yet you should always stop to smell the roses so I thought I'd reflect some more on England's bowling performance yesterday. Robert Craddock puts it succinctly as he describes England's new bowling tactic "Shoddyline". Andrew Ramsey wrote a great quote in reference to Harmison's first ball directed at Flintoff at second slip:
As cricket strategists will attest, it's all very admirable to bowl to your set field. It's quite another thing to bowl at them.
The hits keep on coming as Peter Lalor from Fox Sports further sinks the boot into Harmison:
Disappointed captain Andrew Flintoff was forced to remove Harmison - the main offender - after just two overs. It's a surprise he didn't ask the police to escort him from the ground.
England were stung yesterday but they have demonstrated they're a team with character that can bounce back from difficult situations. Conversely, Australia have demonstrated a willingness to put their foot on an opposition's throat and not let them back off the ground. So it will be interesting to see how the arm wrestle pans out on Day 2...

Some classic comments JS. Bill Lawry just said "When the first ball of the day goes to second slip, you know you're in trouble." But come on, seriously, don't tell me you didn't will Pietersen off the ground when he went over before the tea break! Those feelings point to the fact that this Pommie side is nothing without a handful of key players.

Harmison is starting to remind me a certain Australian bowler in 2005 and they way the poms targeted him.

If what happened to Gillespie could happen to Harmison, I'll be a very happy chappy.

To be honest, I didn't want to see Pietersen injured - he's an entertaining player and I want an entertaining series. So long as he doesn't win any Test matches for them...

What is Gillie England's bunnie?

Sorry ... I mean 'why' is Gillie England's bunny?

Jeff Thomson added another great quote to the list: "Harmison couldn't hit the side of an elephant from 20 yards"
