England review their Ashes loss
England have begun the post-mortem their disastrous Ashes loss (or as the England press are dubbing the series - the Thrashes). Setting goals is always good and they've outlined their plans for the future:
"To determine how Team England performances during the period 2003-07 should be improved in order that England regain the Ashes in 2009 and win an ICC global one-day Event during the period 2007-11."It's gratifying to see England have downsized their rather lofty ambition of becoming the #1 team by 2007 to the more realistic goal of "improving". I won the "Most Improved" trophy when playing for the Alexandra Hills Under 12's. I was crap at the start of the season and marginally less crap at the end of the season but somehow it got me a trophy. England's 2006 featured a 5-nil Ashes loss, a 5-nil ODI loss to Sri Lanka and a 5-1 ODI loss to India. Improving on those results shouldn't be too much of a stretch.

How about fielding eleven players who all know they need to improve and all want to be there? That sounds like a solid start for rebuilding. Need a new coaching staff though. How about Ian Chappell as head coach, Warnie as bowling coach, and a few former WIndian greats to help show em how to bat?
Postmortem? Harmison half the time looked like he would prefer to in a pub playing darts. Let him! Pietersen, in spite of what he says, isn't a team man. Let him play a season or too over here in our domestic league. Freddie is way to friendly to be a captain. Australia only got to where it is today on the shoulders of the despotic and highly grumpy Border. Bring Vaughn back. Monty is a great bowler but can't field for nuts. Fork out the cash and get one of the Waugh brothers or Rhodes as a fielding coach. Collingwood is a Geoff Marsh and not suited for the modern game. Get Langer to whisper in his ear about how to reinvent yourself as an agressive test batsmen.

Oh yeah. I forgot. Someone tell Enmgland that bowlers get batting practice these days as well.

I just hope England wins the one day series and, dare I say it, the World Cup. MBE's will become knighthoods and everyone will forget about a review.

I am not sure but as far as i remember that England has never won any big event of cricket, though they were the people who introduced this game. Lets see how they perform in upcoming WorldCup!
