Murali reaches 700 wickets

So Murali just took his 700th Test wicket in Bangladesh and is 9 wickets away from breaking Warnie's Test record. He's likely to achieve the record during the Sri Lankan tour of Australia this summer. Some Aussies are gnashing their teeth over this, citing the fact that 690 of his wickets are against Bangladesh (I'm not so sure of this statistic but cricinfo never lies). Personally, I think it's great.

Firstly, I have great admiration for Murali. I like his chutzpah, I admire his skill and I'm a big fan of the way he campaigned to help his countrymen after the tsunami. Secondly, I have the very slim hope that cracking the record might persuade Warnie to come out of retirement.

If that fails, there's always Plan B - an ad campaign featuring Lara Bingle in an Australian flag bikini asking "where the bloody hell are you, Warnie?"
