Murali reaches 700 wickets

So Murali just took his 700th Test wicket in Bangladesh and is 9 wickets away from breaking Warnie's Test record. He's likely to achieve the record during the Sri Lankan tour of Australia this summer. Some Aussies are gnashing their teeth over this, citing the fact that 690 of his wickets are against Bangladesh (I'm not so sure of this statistic but cricinfo never lies). Personally, I think it's great.

Firstly, I have great admiration for Murali. I like his chutzpah, I admire his skill and I'm a big fan of the way he campaigned to help his countrymen after the tsunami. Secondly, I have the very slim hope that cracking the record might persuade Warnie to come out of retirement.

If that fails, there's always Plan B - an ad campaign featuring Lara Bingle in an Australian flag bikini asking "where the bloody hell are you, Warnie?"

Hey JC, glad to see ure still alive. :)

Did you hear that Warnie has opted out of the commentary job on Channel 9? I just assumed he'd be there after he finished his 2 seasons of county.

I guess he has enough money and fame he just doesn't need it.

I didn't hear that about Warnie. I've been developing another website (as if I didn't have little enough spare time as it is) so I've kind of lost track with what's been going on in the cricketing world - not that there has been much to speak of. Warnie won't be missed in the commentary box anywhere near as much as on the pitch.

How about McGrath and Langer? Do you know if they have been offered commentary jobs?

Feel sorry for Murali you know. He
might go on and take 1000 wickets.
In a hundred years from now we'll talk of the flawed genius that was Shane Warne and hold him in the same esteem/regard as Bradman. We'll talk of Murali and say "yeah, but....".
At least he has had the opportunity to showcase his talent. If he'd been Aussie-born, I doubt he would have been allowed to proceed beyond junior cricket, notwithstanding his "clearance" by the authorities.

As an Aussie fan, I think that Murali is a great bowler but he'll never and I mean never be like Warnie.

P.S
I'm a huge cricket fan and I'm new to this site so please go easy on me.
Thanks!

in terms of averages (test and one day),Murali is better than Warnie.
We should relies actual situation other than just saying lies (I mean lie comments ).

Ukb,

What do you mean lie comments? I'm not lying! Who cares about the stats?! I'm just saying that Warnie has taken more wickets than Murali so I'm assuming that Warnie's a better bowler because he's taken more wickets! For goodness sake! Geez!

P.S
Sorry for exploding but I'm just telling the truth - WARNIE IS A BETTER BOWLER THAN MURALI!!
