Kevin Pietersen switches to left hander

Here is something you don't see everyday - Kevin Pietersen switching to a left hand grip mid-delivery then smashing the ball for six. Then he repeats the shot for good measure! Speaking as a legspinner, this kind of shot becoming commonplace is a slow bowler's worst nightmare. As a cricket fan, it's exhilirating stuff and I hope to see more of it. Of course, the next bloke who attempts it and gets out will look like the greatest tool in cricketing history so you can only imagine someone with the confidence and ego of KP having a crack.

CHEAT!
Mikie Holding is right - this is cheating.
You simply can't do this without notifying the umpire / bowler.

Only a complete knob like Pietersen would ever consider this as an option - it's like how can I be controversial this week? 12 runs needs to be deducted from the batsman, the team total and struck from the records.

This type of behaviour is not to be admired. It offends. It brings the game into disrepute and the batman should be fined and disciplined / dropped from participating in future test matches for this season. Put this joker where he belongs - 20-20.

This is controversial, but I appreciate his ability.

I love this video and has linked from www.eastrovedica.net. It is good content for my readers.

Well its something that can be played on slow-bowling, where he gets this much time to change the grip as well.

One more reason , why cricket post 90's has become ridiculous. Worst part is batters (read Sunil Gavaskar) who faced some of the hostile fast bowling has contributed to neutering of bowlers as Technical committee chief.

Totally agree with Mike Holding, Bowlers should switch from over to round the wicket in midst of the delivery. though that and changing bowling hand is practically impossible.Unless we have a freak bowler. And ofcourse One Mr. Hair doesn't call him :P.

If I was a bowler I would have responded by underarm delivery. anyways they just want to see ball being plonked over the ropes don't they , why should I stress my shoulder to sports injury for that :(

I agree that KP got a bit more creative in scoring runs and yes this controversial action needs to be reviewed by ICC rules committee.

From a different perspective, it takes lot of guts, skills, timing and accuracy to change grip in a jiffy and hit a bowler for a six. Doing the same feat a couple of times shows the mastery Kevin has acheived in his experimentation. Anyways, I loved it ! :)

The new format of cricket is slowy changing the game itself. The expectations to score more and more runs in a 20 over inning will force batsmen to use their Right-half brain more frequently. On the otherhand, I won't be surprised to see a "fast" bowler coming up with a new delivery- Chautha (Fouth) after Teesra (Third) and Doosra(Second) ;D

JC, as a FastLegSpinner myself, I'd rather bowl a Wrong'un or TopSpinner to avoid getting whacked !!

I think it's a massive risk and would welcome someone trying it. Virtualgaz your racism is beyong a joke to be honest. I'm sure if Ponting did a switch hit you would bow down to him.

No issues with top-class facilities provided to Aussies: Pawar

Outgoing Indian Cricket Board chief Sharad Pawar today dismissed notions that the BCCI was not happy with the top-class training facilities given to the visiting Australian team in Jaipur by one of its affiliated units, Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA).
"The BCCI is not unhappy. They are our guests and as per our Indian tradition we extend our hospitality to the visiting guests," he replied to a query on the matter.
RCA chief and BCCI Vice-President Lalit Modi yesterday defended the decision by saying it was not wrong at all, and was in complete variance with the views expressed by the BCCI's Chief Administrative Officer Ratnakar Shetty.
Shetty told a private television channel that the RCA was obliging the Australians more than expected. read more on www.cricketnirvana.com

No problem at all with such an exhilarating display of skill and attitude.
As long as the bowler is allowed to come over or round the wicket ... as they please at the last moment
