CriciWiki: websites for cricket clubs

I've finally completed my opus: CriciWiki. Basically, it lets cricket clubs build and manage their own club website. Club members can easily enter club details, players and match results. Players can check out their stats, compare batting averages and gaze lovingly at their best bowling figures.

The site began over a year ago when I first started playing club cricket. The captain asked if I could set up a website for the club. I took some photos of our players in action. One picture had our opener in an almost identical position to that famous photo of Victor Trumper. Thus the inspiration for the sepia toned design:

As I put the site together, I thought how cool it would be if club members could login and enter match results. In other words, set it up so I didn't have to do all the work. So I created an admin system for entering players, matches, batting and bowling figures. Once the data was in there, it was simple enough to create a page calculating player stats. Not surprisingly, comparing batting and bowling averages to see who was top of the pecking order was what everyone was most interested in. When you get down to it, every cricketer is at heart a stats whore.

Note - the Cavs stats page shows I did achieve my goal for the season - a batting average higher than my bowling average... barely!

From there, I just had to extend the admin so any club could set up and maintain their own website. Well, not that simple, it took me a year (mostly dithering) to nut out all the issues. Plus begging my wife to create a killer web design. Finally, all the pieces fell together and CriciWiki is born!

Now I need beta-testers. Anyone who signs up as a beta-tester by March 31 will get one free year for your club website. All you have to do is:

That's it. I'm keen to test drive the system under a range of different club setups. So if you're a member of a cricket club and would like a website for your club, sign up (it only takes a minute to set up your site). Look forward to your feedback!

JC, I thought every club used mycricket.cricket.com.au which is basically just a rebadged resultsvault.com.au after Cricket Australia partnered with them last year.

Criciwiki is meant for any country, not just Australia. Plus not all Australian clubs use mycricket - there are various competitions like the Goldfield Ashes which don't use them.

Plus I've used resultsvault - if the current mycricket version is anything like it, the system is a nightmare to use. I'm designing Criciwiki to be as easy to use as possible and hopefully, eventually, with much cooler features.

mycricket seems to have improved on resultsvault of years passed, but I've never had to enter data.
One question I always wondered was how resultsvault just suddenly turned up on the scene and most clubs were forced to use it. Some major players behind it?

Anyway, best of luck with criciwiki.
